Exploration
Effective studies of the surface till, drilling and sampling of both the lower layers of the till and the bedrock, as well as continual analysis and evaluation. These are the various stages of the exploration method that Nordic Mines employs. The exploration method - based on analysing the surface till - used by Nordic Mines has been a key factor to the success in the Laiva mine project. The main goal of the exploration work at the moment is to increase the ore base at and around the Laiva mine – in order to prolong the mining production in the area. In parallel, new deposits at the company’s other project areas in Finland and Sweden are being mapped out.
Matrix exploration
Around three-quarters of Sweden’s and half of Finland’s surface is covered by till.

Core- and RC-drilling
When a mineral deposit has been identified, a programme of core drilling is launched in order to determine how much of the mineral is present and what form the deposit takes. In this final stage of the exploration work, Nordic Mines uses core and RC drilling.
